Flock-Tober® Fresh Egg Face-Off Contest WINNER!

Purina Poultry is excited to announce this week's winner in the first-ever Flock-Tober® Fresh Egg Face-Off Contest! 9-year-old Cathrynn Hager of Stamping Ground, Ky. won “Most Impactful Eggs” after competing against hundreds of egg photos from across the country.
Cathrynn’s story was entered by her mother Mackenzie Grove Hager, who said:
“My 9-year-old daughter, Cathrynn, donated 2 dozen of her Dominique eggs to an elementary school here in Kentucky. Students hatched the eggs at the school and learned about incubation, embryo development and at hatch time she prepared a presentation about chick care. Some of the chicks even found new homes with the students. Cathrynn is hoping to do a hatch project at her own school this coming spring!”
In the winning photo, Cathrynn is handing off her eggs and information packets she made to the teacher.
This is not the first story of chickens and ducks in schools received by Purina. In fact, Purina Poultry celebrates schoolyard coops through their Purina Coop to School Network. Last year, Purina donated chicken feed to 16 schools across the country to help feed their flocks. Quotes and information on that program can be found here.
The Fresh Egg Face-Off is a part of Purina Poultry’s annual Purina® Flock-Tober® festivities, which celebrate backyard hens and farm fresh eggs each fall. As the winner of this round, Cathrynn will receive a Flock-Tober® Fun Box of backyard chicken prizes and now has a 1-in-3 chance to be named the winner of “Purina’s Fresh Eggs of the Year." She will compete against the two other category winners – Most Colorful Eggs, won by Renee Woods in Colorado, and Most Useful Eggs, won by Lisa Bonser in Missouri – for the grand prize on October 30 on the Purina Poultry Facebook page.
